Summary
NORA (Nordic Atlantic Cooperation) is an intergovernmental organization under the Nordic Council of Ministers that funds collaborative projects across the North Atlantic region — specifically Greenland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, and coastal Norway. The program provides project grants of up to DKK 500,000 per year (maximum DKK 1.5 million for three-year projects) to initiatives that align with NORA's 2025-2028 Strategic Programme, which focuses on building a strong and dynamic North Atlantic region with healthy and sustainable economies. Applicants can be companies, public institutions, or individuals, but projects must involve partners from at least two of the four NORA constituent areas. The program runs two annual funding rounds (March and October deadlines). International partnerships with Canada and Scotland are also welcomed. NORA explicitly excludes research projects and cultural projects from funding, directing those applicants to Nordforsk and the Nordic Culture Fund respectively. In addition to project grants, NORA offers travel support of up to DKK 30,000 for groups developing project proposals who need to meet potential partners. The program emphasizes private sector collaboration and cross-border cooperation, with a focus on sustainable economic development in sparsely populated North Atlantic and Arctic regions.
