Summary

BlueActionBANOS is a European Union-funded initiative (grant agreement 101217604) managed by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA). It funds community-led actions in the Baltic and North Sea basin (BANOS) region, targeting impactful and locally innovative solutions to ocean and water challenges. The call seeks between 5 and 15 projects led by area-based or interest-based stakeholder groups. Eligible applicants are consortia of 2-12 entities registered in BANOS countries (Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden) or Horizon Europe Associated Countries. Eligible entities include NGOs, local authorities, research institutions, SMEs, community groups, and other legal entities. Projects must address at least one of three EU Mission Ocean and Waters goals: ecosystem protection and restoration, pollution prevention and elimination, or development of a sustainable circular blue economy. Funding ranges from €200,000 to €2,000,000 per action, with a cap of €500,000 per individual entity in a consortium. Projects receive up to 24 months of operational support including dedicated project managers and technical assistance. Grants are paid as lump sums tied to milestone completion. The application follows a two-stage process: a mandatory Project Idea Form (deadline March 16, 2026) followed by individual consultations, then a full proposal submission (deadline May 29, 2026).
