- How to Apply
- Applicants register on the NordForsk Application Portal and submit proposals online. The portal contains the complete call text and required documents. The individual who creates the application is automatically registered as the project leader. Applications can be edited after submission but must be resubmitted before the deadline. NordForsk uses international peer review by external experts, followed by a call committee evaluation for alignment with call objectives and Nordic added value. The NordForsk Board makes the final funding decision.

Summary
This NordForsk call for proposals funds collaborative research on Nordic-Baltic education systems and 21st century challenges. The initiative aims to generate new knowledge about how education strengthens resilient and equitable societies, with research themes covering democracy, integration, inclusion and exclusion in education, the impact of technology on education, and teacher development. Eligible applicants must form consortia including research organizations from at least two Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden) plus at least one partner from Estonia or Lithuania. Project leaders must hold completed PhDs. The call emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, inclusion of early-career researchers, and stakeholder engagement to generate policy-relevant knowledge. Total available funding is up to 65 million NOK for Nordic partners, with additional funding of up to 600,000 EUR for Estonian partners and 300,000 EUR for Lithuanian partners. Individual projects can receive up to 13 MNOK from Nordic funding. The deadline for submissions is April 22, 2026. Co-financing is not mandated, and Russian and Belarusian institutions cannot participate.
