Eligibility

Applicant must be affiliated with one of the 11 participating Swedish universities or research organizations
Applicants must demonstrate expertise in computational/data-driven life science approaches

Project Scope

Research must fall within one of four DDLS strategic areas: cell/molecular biology, precision medicine, evolution/biodiversity, or epidemiology/infection biology

Constraints

Fellows are recruited into tenure-track associate senior lecturer positions (4-6 years)
Tenure evaluation after 4-5 years based on excellence in research, teaching, and leadership

Historical Context

Two recruitment rounds completed: Round 1 in June 2021 (20 Fellows), Round 2 in 2024 (19 Fellows), totaling 39 Fellows across 11 Swedish institutions. The Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation was established in 1917 and distributes over 2.5 billion SEK annually for Swedish basic research.
