Historical Context

The foundation traces back to 1982 when Ingvar Kamprad transferred ownership of Ingka Group to INGKA Foundation. Three foundations were established sharing the mission to "create a better everyday life for the many people." The IKEA Foundation has granted over €2 billion to date. In 2024, 44 new grants and donations were made. As of May 2025, 207 active grants are listed. The grant database includes all active grants plus donations to special initiatives since 2021.
