Eligibility

Must be identified and vetted by UBS Optimus Foundation as a potential implementing partner — no open application process
Focus is specifically on Southeast Asia — projects outside this region are not eligible

Project Scope

Organization must work on climate mitigation, nature-based solutions, or blue carbon in Southeast Asia (primarily Mekong Delta, Vietnam)
Projects should align with the collective's focus areas: mangrove conservation, coastal ecosystem protection, sustainable aquaculture, or blue carbon monitoring/financing

Constraints

For philanthropist members: minimum USD 100,000 annual commitment required to join the collective
Partner organizations must be willing to collaborate within a collective impact model alongside other funded partners

Historical Context

The collective has been operational since at least 2021 (UBS press release dated October 2021). By end of 2023, nine partner organizations were active. The collective published the Big Blue Report documenting outcomes. Achievements through 2023 include 6,228 hectares of mangroves conserved/restored and 69 stakeholder partnerships established.
