Summary

Nordic Innovation, an institution under the Nordic Council of Ministers, issued a joint call for project proposals under two programs: "Innovative Solutions for 2030" and "Nordic Forward: Resilience and Competitiveness for 2050." The call allocated a total of NOK 30 million, with individual projects eligible for NOK 2–6 million in grant funding, subject to a mandatory 50% co-funding requirement from project partners (cash or in-kind working hours). A maximum of roughly 5 projects can be funded under this call. Innovative Solutions for 2030 focuses on accelerating the green transition by demonstrating measurable results by 2030, with emphasis on commercialization, new green technologies, and circular economic systems — including optimization of organic materials and waste streams. Nordic Forward: Resilience and Competitiveness for 2050 targets systemic, long-term innovation through enabling technologies, deep-tech, and cross-border value chain collaboration. Both programs require a clear contribution to the Nordic Vision 2030. Eligible applicants include companies, clusters, NGOs, public sector bodies, research institutions, and consultancies based in the Nordic countries. The key eligibility requirement is that the consortium must include partners from at least three Nordic countries at the time of application. Industry involvement is a weighted evaluation criterion. The call was the second step of a two-stage process, but participation in the first step was not required. The application deadline for this call was 11 February 2026 (now passed), with funding decisions expected 27 March 2026 and project start from end April 2026. Nordic Innovation runs recurring open calls under its ongoing programs, so future rounds are anticipated.

Historical Context

This call was structured as the second of two steps, with Step 1 (project outlines) having taken place in spring 2025. A webinar was held on 14 October 2025. The call is part of Nordic Innovation's ongoing programs Innovative Solutions for 2030 and Nordic Forward: Resilience and Competitiveness for 2050, both listed as ongoing programs on the Nordic Innovation website.
