Historical Context
The original Eco-Ikot Center launched in 2022 in Barangay San Isidro, Parañaque City. By February 2024, it had diverted over 50,000 kg of recyclables. The 2024 expansion announcement marks the replication of the model to additional barangays in Parañaque and the city of Manila. This is also tied to the 75th anniversary of Philippines-Korea diplomatic relations and KOICA's 30th anniversary in the Philippines.
Why it was added
GIZ/bilateral waste capacity building
