Historical Context
Programme started in January 2018 and runs through December 2031. Has scaled from initial operations to 36 cities. Over 83,000 metric tonnes of plastic waste processed to date. 22 Material Recovery Centres established. The social protection component Utthaan was launched to support 9,000 waste workers. In 2024 alone, the initiative managed over 1,600 metric tonnes through two MRFs in Mumbai.
