Historical Context

CEFLEX was founded by Graham Houlder, who announced his transition toward retirement in November 2025, with new leadership effective January 2026. In December 2025, the consortium released over 1,700 data points from two years of sortability and recyclability testing as open-access resources. The initiative has conducted multiple research projects including FIACE, REFLEX, and BARRIER.
