Summary

Interreg North Sea Call 6 (TakeUP! call) is a capitalisation call under the Interreg North Sea Programme 2021-2027 (VIB period), managed by the programme's secretariat based in Viborg, Denmark. Call 6 is specifically designed to boost positive impacts of previous North Sea projects by supporting partners who upscale or transform existing project outputs to reach new target groups or domains. Thematic scope aligns with the broader Interreg North Sea priorities: (1) Robust and smart economies, (2) Green transitions — including circular economy, pollution prevention, and sustainability; (3) Climate resilience, pollution, and biodiversity; (4) Better governance. Projects in Call 6 must align with current European agenda themes: increasing competitiveness, stronger rural areas, or building resilience. Circular economy outputs from previous VIB projects are among the eligible starting points, making this relevant for organisations with prior Interreg connections in waste, circular plastics, or blue economy. Eligible activities are small-scale projects that capitalise on achieved outputs from existing or completed Interreg VIB projects by applying those outputs in a new context or reaching new audiences. Infrastructure-heavy new projects are not typical for this call type. Geographic scope covers the Interreg North Sea region: Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Belgium (Flanders). At least three programme countries must be represented in the partnership. Eligible applicants are open — both existing VIB project partners and newcomers are welcome. Partnerships may include up to nine organisations from at least three programme countries. Project duration is 1.5-2 years with budgets up to EUR 1 million. Call 6 is expected to open in December 2026. The guidance note will be published in May 2026. The application deadline is anticipated in mid-March 2027. A GetReady! event is scheduled for 24 June 2026 in Lille, France.

Historical Context

Interreg North Sea 2021-2027 (VIB period) has a total budget of EUR 158 million. Call 6 is a capitalisation call specifically designed to scale up outputs from previously funded projects. The list of eligible outputs (from completed and ongoing VIB projects) is published on the programme website and updated regularly; last updated 16 April 2026.
