Summary

The Interreg North Sea Programme Call 6, branded as the TakeUP! call, is a cross-border funding opportunity for the 2021-2027 programme period. This call specifically focuses on scaling and uptake of outputs already achieved and approved in Interreg North Sea VIB (Value in Business) projects, rather than developing new innovations from scratch. The thematic scope is defined by three challenge areas: increasing competitiveness, stronger rural areas, and building resilience in the North Sea region. Eligible projects must demonstrate how they will transfer proven solutions to a new target group or field/domain within the programme area. Eligible activities are the implementation and transfer of previously approved Interreg North Sea project outputs to new contexts. Developing entirely new solutions or repeating previous activities is not within scope — the focus is uptake and scale. The geographic scope is the Interreg North Sea Programme area, covering Belgium, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Scotland (UK). Projects must involve partners from at least 3 programme countries. Eligible applicants include any organisation in the programme area, including those new to Interreg North Sea. However, at least 2 partners must come from closed or ongoing Interreg North Sea VIB projects, and the lead partner must be from such a project and be based in the programme area. Consortia of 3-9 partners are required. The maximum budget is EUR 1 million per project, with a duration of 18-24 months. The call timeline: guidance note available May 2026, Get Ready! event June 24 2026, OMS opens July 2026 for application drafting, Call 6 opens December 2026, deadline March 2027.

Historical Context

Call 6 is the TakeUP! call for the Interreg North Sea 2021-2027 programme. It follows previous calls (1-5) and specifically focuses on scale-up and transfer of already proven outputs from earlier projects, rather than developing new solutions from scratch.
