Summary

The Novo Nordisk Foundation's Project Grants Supporting Societal Learning for the Green Transition fund projects and initiatives that accelerate sustainable behaviour change and green transition in Denmark. The Foundation seeks to support systemic approaches to sustainability through community learning, civil society engagement, and cross-sector collaboration. Thematic scope focuses on societal learning for the green transition: behaviour change toward more sustainable practices, community and municipal green initiatives, partnerships connecting civil society, industry, government, and research, and scaling of proven sustainable practices. The programme falls under the Foundation's Sustainability focus area. Eligible activities include projects that innovate, implement, or scale sustainable behaviours and practices. This includes community engagement programs, municipal development projects, capacity building for green transition, participatory research with non-commercial aims, and collaborative initiatives between stakeholders. Both pilot and scale-up projects qualify. Geographic scope is strictly the Danish Realm (Denmark, Greenland, Faroe Islands). Projects must be administered from within this territory and have their primary focus there. Eligible applicants are leaders or project-responsible persons at eligible institutions including: public authorities, civil society organisations (NGOs, associations, charities, grassroots movements, think tanks), research institutions, and private companies applying for non-commercial, non-profit projects. Private companies may not apply for commercial gain. Target beneficiaries are communities, municipalities, and organisations in Denmark undergoing the green transition. Grant size is up to DKK 6 million for projects of up to 3 years. Call opens 13 May 2026 and applications are reviewed by the Committee on Society in the Green Transition.
