Summary

Convergence is the worlds leading platform for blended finance design funding. Its grants do not fund programmes — they fund the design of financing structures that can mobilise private capital at scale. For this organisation, the most powerful application would be: We have proven end-to-end plastic waste value chains in Vietnam and Indonesia. Help us design a blended finance vehicle that can take this to USD 50 million, combining Danida grant capital as first-loss with IFU equity, DFC guarantees, and corporate offtake agreements from FMCG companies. This application would be strengthened by a concrete partnership with a DFI (IFU) or impact investor (Circulate Capital). The Asia Climate Solutions Design Grant window is most relevant though it does not list plastic waste explicitly. Contact Convergence before applying to confirm eligibility. Consider engaging a blended finance advisory firm (SYSTEMIQ, KOIS, Dalberg Capital) to co-develop the application.

Historical Context

Convergence was founded in 2016. Has provided over USD 70M in design funding across 200+ transactions. SDG Impact Finance Initiative was a specific Canada-backed window. Asia Climate Solutions window active in 2025-2026. Catalytic Climate Finance Facility is newer (2025).
