Summary
The Aquaculture Funding Programme of Schleswig-Holstein is a state-level grant scheme co-financed by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) for the period 2021-2027. It is administered by the Landesamt fuer Landwirtschaft und nachhaltige Landentwicklung (LLNL.SH) under the Ministry for Agriculture, Rural Areas, Europe and Consumer Protection. The programme supports the development of a sustainable and innovative aquaculture sector in Schleswig-Holstein. Thematic priorities include: productive investment in capacity, quality and product diversification; resource efficiency and water use reduction; climate adaptation; animal health and welfare; conversion to organic/extensive carp pond aquaculture; research and development for aquaculture technology; infrastructure development; knowledge transfer; and direct marketing of own produce. Eligible activities span capital investments in new or existing aquaculture facilities, knowledge and advisory services, feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments, R&D projects, and direct sales infrastructure. Measures must contribute to job creation, competitiveness, sustainability, or improved hygiene and animal health standards. Geographic scope is strictly limited to Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Eligible applicants include aquaculture enterprises (of any size, with lower minimum eligible costs for small enterprises), recognized scientific and technical institutions, public bodies, and state-commissioned private entities. Projects causing excess production capacity or applicants in insolvency are excluded. Funding is provided as non-repayable grants. The minimum eligible project cost is EUR 5,000 for small enterprises and EUR 10,000 for other measures, with a maximum of EUR 6 million per individual measure. Grant rates vary by measure type. Applicants must apply before project commencement. No co-financing rate is uniformly fixed — it varies by measure category.
