Summary

The Schleswig-Holstein Aquaculture Funding Programme provides grants to support the development of sustainable aquaculture in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is co-financed by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) under the 2021–2027 programming period. The thematic scope encompasses the full range of aquaculture activities: productive investments in capacity expansion and quality improvement; diversification of species and products; advisory and knowledge transfer services; improvements to working conditions and safety; resource efficiency (water consumption, emissions reduction); climate adaptation and resilience; animal health and welfare improvements; conversion from conventional to organic aquaculture; research and development for scientific and technical challenges; aquaculture infrastructure studies; and direct marketing of own aquaculture products. Eligible activities are closely tied to the EMFAF measure categories. Investments must contribute to the goals of strengthening competitiveness, supporting job creation, modernising operations, improving product image, and enhancing hygiene and health conditions. Geographically, the programme is restricted to Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Applicants operating outside this region are not eligible. Eligible applicants include aquaculture enterprises, scientific and technical institutions, public-law bodies, state-entrusted private organisations, and research institutions — depending on the specific measure applied for. The grant percentage varies by measure type. The programme requires that the funded purpose be maintained for 5 years (12 years for buildings), and full project financing must be secured by the applicant.
