Grant categories include: Semper Ardens (Accelerate, Advance, Accomplish) for researcher groups and professors; postdoc stipends (internationalization, reintegration, Rome, Athens); research infrastructure and digital research infrastructure; monograph stipends; research dissemination; conferences; field expeditions/research stays; and acute research projects.

The foundation operates primarily in Danish and all research must be performed by Danish researchers or foreign researchers affiliated with Danish science. The foundation does not fund operational projects, NGO activities, or applied environmental work outside a research context. Eligibility is effectively limited to Danish academic institutions.
