Summary

The Allianz Foundation Grants Program 2025 is an annual competitive funding round by the German Allianz corporate foundation. The program supports projects across three thematic pillars: Arts & Culture, European Civil Society, and Climate & Environment. The Climate & Environment pillar is most relevant for environmental organizations, with priorities including decarbonization of the built environment, development of liveable cities, biodiversity conservation, natural climate protection, and sustainable food production. The foundation values systemic-transformative approaches, participatory project designs, and trans-local impact. Eligible activities include projects that work across borders, demonstrate systemic and lasting change, use natural resources responsibly, and develop ecologically sustainable strategies. Projects must show a sustainable vision beyond the funding period. Scientific research without implementation components, film productions, arts or real estate purchases, building measures, and full project financing are excluded. Geographic scope is limited to Europe and the Mediterranean region (all Council of Europe member states and Mediterranean countries including Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestinian Territories, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey). Projects must be primarily implemented within this area. Eligible applicants are organizations only (not individuals). For-profit entities face significant restrictions and must contact the foundation before applying. Applications are particularly encouraged from organizations led by women, young people, or groups affected by marginalization. Funding is EUR 80,000 to EUR 200,000 per project for up to 24 months, covering up to 75% of total project costs. The remaining 25% must come from own or third-party funds, confirmed before project start. The 2025 application deadline was February 10, 2025; new annual rounds are expected.
