Summary

KfW Bankengruppe is Germany's state-owned development bank offering a range of promotional loan products for businesses investing in energy efficiency and environmental protection. The Environmental Programs section covers financing for energy-efficient retrofits of commercial buildings, photovoltaics, electric mobility, industrial process improvements, and investments in nature protection and biodiversity. The thematic scope covers energy efficiency (lighting, air systems, cooling, pumps, motors, IT), renewable energy (solar, geothermal), sustainable mobility (electric vehicles, charging infrastructure), and environmental protection investments including biodiversity and climate-related capital investments. Eligible activities include installing energy-efficient equipment, purchasing electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, solar installations, commercial building renovation, and climate/nature protection investments by businesses. Geographic scope is Germany only. Eligible applicants are German companies — Mittelstand (SMEs) and large enterprises. Public institutions also have separate product lines. These are concessional loans (Kredite), not grants. Applications go through partner banks (the Hausbank principle), not directly to KfW. KfW does not fund NGOs through this product line. There are no grants in this programme; all financing is loan-based. The page is a product overview page, not a call for proposals. Loans are available on a rolling basis.
