Summary
NORA (Nordic Atlantic Cooperation) is a cooperation body under the Nordic Council of Ministers, based in the Faroe Islands, that funds collaborative projects across the North Atlantic region. The program supports projects involving partners from at least two of its four constituent areas: the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, and coastal Norway. Projects from Canada and Scotland are also encouraged. Applicants can be companies, public institutions, or individuals. Projects can receive up to 500,000 DKK annually, with a maximum of 1.5 million DKK over three years (approximately EUR 67,000/year or EUR 200,000 total). Applications must address one or more priority areas from NORA's Strategic Programme 2025-2028, which include resource security and artificial intelligence among others. NORA does not fund research projects or cultural projects, directing those applicants to Nordforsk and the Nordic Culture Fund respectively. In addition to standard project grants, NORA offers smaller "chairmanship grants" of up to DKK 60,000 for network building, time-sensitive work, or dissemination of completed project results. The next application deadline is October 4, 2026. Applications are submitted via a digital form in English or Danish.
