Summary
The Nordic Council of Ministers Fisheries Cooperation invites proposals for Nordic collaborative projects in fisheries and aquaculture through its Autumn 2026 open call. The total budget for this round is DKK 3 million, and the program aims to support between 4 and 7 projects with individual grants of up to DKK 900,000. Thematic priorities for the Autumn 2026 call are: (1) Co-existence and spatial planning in marine and coastal areas, and (2) Ecosystem-based ocean management and stock recovery. Projects must contribute to the Nordic Vision 2030, which targets a green, competitive, and socially sustainable Nordic region. Eligible activities include management- and research-based projects that contribute to knowledge building, knowledge dissemination, or networking. Projects must demonstrate significant Nordic benefit, meaning the work generates added value specifically through Nordic collaboration. Cross-sectoral cooperation with other Nordic Council sectors is encouraged. Projects focused on commercial product development are generally out of scope, though innovation can be supported. Geographic scope is restricted to the Nordic countries: Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Finland, Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Åland. At least three Nordic countries must be involved in steering or implementation. Alternatively, two Nordic countries may partner with at least one non-Nordic country. Eligible applicants are broad: Nordic joint institutions, national authorities, researchers, industry actors, clusters, EU partners, NGOs, and others. There is no minimum self-financing requirement, though co-financing is seen positively. Overhead costs (administration, rent, IT infrastructure, accounting) are not eligible for funding. Proposals are submitted directly to the AG-Fish project coordinator by the October 2, 2026 deadline. No formal portal is required.
Historical Context
The Nordic Council of Ministers Fisheries Cooperation runs biannual open calls (spring and autumn). Previous calls have similarly funded 4–7 projects per round. The fund has been active for multiple years under the Nordic Council's 2030 Vision framework.
