Summary

The Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership (SBEP) Call 2025 is a Horizon Europe initiative administered in Denmark by Innovation Fund Denmark (Innovationsfonden). The programme aims to support international research and innovation projects that develop sustainable solutions for the green and digital transition of ocean-related economic activities, including seas and coastal environments. Thematic scope covers all aspects of sustainable blue economy including ocean resource management, marine biotechnology, aquaculture innovation, marine renewable energy, coastal resilience, marine biodiversity protection, sustainable fisheries, marine pollution reduction, and digital transformation of maritime industries. The call targets transformative and transnational projects addressing sustainability challenges in ocean-related sectors. Eligible activities include research projects, innovation pilots, technology development, knowledge transfer, and capacity building activities directly related to the sustainable blue economy. Projects must be international/transnational in scope and submitted to the SBEP Call secretariat. Innovation Fund Denmark provides co-funding specifically to Danish partners within successful international consortia. Geographically, projects must have a transnational dimension and engage multiple European partners. Innovation Fund Denmark's co-funding is exclusively for Danish organisations participating in internationally selected projects. The programme is pan-European in scope through Horizon Europe. Eligible applicants include Danish universities, companies, industry organisations, local and regional governments, research organisations, and NGOs. Danish partners must form part of a wider international consortium. Non-public organisations must provide declarations confirming they are not in financial difficulty. SMEs must submit an SME declaration. Budget from Innovation Fund Denmark: EUR 50,000 minimum per partner; EUR 300,000 maximum per partner; EUR 500,000 maximum for all Danish partners combined if more than one Danish organisation participates. Funding rates range from 25% to 90% of total project costs depending on organisation type. Co-funding is contingent on the project being selected through the international evaluation process.

The Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership (SBEP) is a Horizon Europe co-funded partnership. This is the third joint transnational call. Pre-proposals deadline was September 15 - November 17, 2025; full proposals due June 17, 2026.
