Summary
Blue Catalyst is an accelerator programme led by Hatch Blue in partnership with WWF-Singapore and the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), designed to advance technology solutions for blue carbon projects across Asia and globally. The programme focuses on overcoming complex implementation and monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) barriers that limit the scaling of high-integrity blue carbon initiatives. Thematically, the programme targets specific challenge areas: greenhouse gas flux measurement and modelling, geospatial mapping and data integration, biodiversity monitoring, carbon stock modelling, improving sapling survival rates, accessing remote or fragmented project sites, and community engagement and safeguarding frameworks. All solutions must demonstrate enterprise scalability and global replicability, with an Asia-first orientation. Eligible activities include the development and piloting of innovative technologies, tools, and methodologies that can be deployed on blue carbon project sites across Southeast Asia and beyond. WWF-Singapore provides on-site pilot implementation opportunities at selected project locations, offering a direct deployment pathway for participants. Geographically, the programme is global in eligibility but centres on Southeast Asia, with the in-person phase hosted in Singapore (11-22 May 2026). Following the two-week intensive, participants receive six months of ongoing commercialization and technical support from Hatch Blue and WWF-Singapore teams. Eligible applicants must be registered companies (or companies intending to register by programme end) with at least one to two founders able to attend in person in Singapore. The programme is open to global applicants; no geographic restriction on company origin. No equity is taken, but participants gain access to Hatch Blue's investment team and a broader climate tech investor network. Participants receive tailored mentorship, strategic support on business models and commercialization, a demo day pitch opportunity to corporates and investors, and engagement with the WWF-Singapore and Hatch Blue ecosystems. There is no financial grant or equity investment as part of the programme itself.
Historical Context
Blue Catalyst is described as the 1st blue carbon platform to address technical and MRV challenges. Hatch Blue has delivered 27 innovation programmes for the blue economy to date, with $300M+ in funding raised by programme participants.
