Summary

BlueActionBANOS is a Horizon Europe-funded programme (EU grant agreement 101217604) running from September 2025 to August 2029, administered by the Submariner Network and FoodBioCluster. It implements the EU Mission 'Restore our Ocean and Waters' for the Baltic and North Sea lighthouse area by empowering community-led transitions toward ocean restoration and sustainable blue economies. The programme offers two types of financial support. Community-Led Action Grants range from €200,000 to €2 million for projects lasting up to 24 months. These grants support action-oriented projects tackling pollution, restoring marine and coastal ecosystems, or advancing sustainable blue economy solutions. Eligible applicants are consortia of 2 to 12 entities registered in Baltic and North Sea basin (BANOS) countries. Transition Agenda Grants provide up to €100,000 per award for up to 18 months. These support the development of regional strategic action plans guiding local sustainability, marine or freshwater ecosystem restoration, decarbonisation, and climate adaptation pathways. Eligible applicants are individual entities or consortia of up to 3 entities registered in BANOS countries. The current first call has a deadline of 16 March 2026 (17:00 CET) for both grant types. Applications are submitted via a two-step process: first a Project Idea Form (PIF) via the OnePass platform, followed by a full proposal for shortlisted applicants. A total of 3 calls are planned during the programme period. In addition to grants, BlueActionBANOS provides technical assistance (expert advice on project scope and methodology), knowledge-sharing and networking through the BlueBioMatch hub, webinars, and peer exchanges. The programme explicitly targets ports, islands, cities, aquaculture producers, and local community groups across the BANOS region.
